I had just had baby number 2. I knew it was time to focus on me. I wanted to prove to myself I was capable of getting in the best show of my life!
I had wandered around a gym but never had been able to walk in confidently and know exactly what I was going to do! I was a new mom and my pp body had me feeling extra insecure! I knew I wanted to show up, but didn’t know how that looked or where to start! I needed help! I found YOU! Thank goodness!
I remember texting you about which yogurt to get and you responding almost immediately! I felt seen, I felt supported! I didn’t feel dumb for asking, I didn’t feel like a burden or a bother!! I felt like this person wants me to succeed as much as I want to succeed! And it didn’t stop. You are there every step of the way. I had a life coach, a trainer, a teacher, a healer all wrapped into one empowering, kind, caring, gentle, smart, intuitive, motivating person!
You met me where I was at in my fitness journey. Beginner. Below beginner even! You built me up! You did it by teaching, by speaking kind words, by showing up, by taking baby steps with me!
I’ve been working with Shannon for a couple years now. When I first started with her I was in the pre-diabetes range and wanted to lose some weight and get in shape. Not only did she help me reach some amazing physical goals but she opened up a whole new way of healing for me. Breathwork has been a missing key in my mental and physical health and I will forever be grateful.
Before I started working with Shannon, I was really struggling to get gains in my shoulders, abs and booty. I wanted the confidence that every girl dreams of having while wearing a bikini! My goal on day one was to have more body confidence and see how much I could grow my body into a bikini-structure.
My primary concerns in the past had been trainers that weren’t responsive, that didn’t understand what I was trying to build and food that wasn’t fueling me to get the growth that I wanted. Shannon was the answer to all of this! She is adaptive and quick to respond to any concern, question or need that I have. She has prepped me for a show, has gotten me through my pregnancy and will help me get my dream bod back once I’m done giving birth. She adjusts my plan and gives me the inspiration and pep I need to keep chasing my health and wellness goals. Seriously the best trainer and person that I’ve worked with in fitness. She knows her stuff and takes a wholistic approach to fitness and wellness. She cares about the people she trains DEEPLY and will do whatever it takes to help you feel emotionally and physically supported as you journey on your body goal endevours. I’d say the most unique thing is the genuine care and how comfortable she makes me feel. I can get real about my body goals and my body struggles and she never judges, but helps me make the right adjustments so I can be successful in creating the body of my dreams.
There has been SO much growth. So much change since working with Shannon. It’s changes that I can see, and everyone else around me can see, but there have also been changes were I have legitamently FELL IN LOVE with my body and my own beauty. Working with Shannon has challenged me and pushed me to my limits physically, but I wanted that. And she has been there as my cheerleader helping me see how far I can push myself and also learn to love myself. Picture a girl who was recently divorced, not a lot of confidence, no butt, no muscles and doing only cardio. That was me. Shannon transformed me and my work with her has given my confidence back! Even now during pregnancy, working with her throughout has made me still feel sexy in my own skin.
I feel like my fitness and wellness have accelerated since working with Shannon. And it continues to do so throughout every stage that I have worked with her in. Whether it is bodybuilding, or pregnancy, she has the answers. I’m more confident than I have ever been in my body and my body image, and not only that, but Shannon has “taught a girl to fish” in the sense that I know how to read what my body needs and how to grow the muscles that I want to grow. The biggest help has been around food. Food and especially carbs always scared me but now, I eat SO much food, and look better and FEEL better than I ever have. Working with Shannon helped me get over a lot of those fears and beat the demons inside of me that were keeping me from progressing physically and mentally in the gym I couldn’t recommend Shannon Johns more for building the body of your dreams! Because you will get more than a body, you will get a friend and a coach who cares.
I first came to Shannon because I didn't feel as strong as I would like to and I had started to notice some aches and pains creeping in. My goals beginning day one with Shannon were to build my strength, especially in my core, and see if I could get rid of the minor aches I'd started experiencing. I also wanted to increase my confidence and comfort navigating the gym scene, which had always been an intimidating place for me.
I can easily say I've achieved my goals and then some since working with Shannon. The physical discomfort went away a few months into training and I don't feel insecure or uncomfortable when I'm working out in the gym anymore. I have learned so much from Shannon about weight training including proper technique and how to strengthen the mind-body connection. Shannon is incredibly knowledgeable, competent, and kind. She takes her job and the goals of her clients seriously which helps ensure a very positive experience overall. I would highly recommend Shannon to anyone wanting to improve their health.
I like your coaching program and the app to follow along. I like the support from our weekly check-ins. I was able to lose over 35 pounds! Everything has improved. I’m much better today than when I started. I would recommend anyone to try your program. Just do it!
What problems were you having in reaching your goals?
My inconsistency. My back and forth with food, and my self doubt. I also didn’t know what workouts I needed, and how I could challenge my body.
What made you reach out?
Finally realizing I needed some help with my inconsistencies, and the fact that I was not progressing. I was in fact, keeping myself in the same place I’d always been in.
What is different about my coaching compared to what you've experienced before working together?
You are organized, and have everything all in one place, which makes it easy to see where to go. You are positive, warm and fuzzy, and not only do you help with physique and health concerns, you have helped me so much with my wellness. With my self view, self talk, and you haven’t stopped believing in me! You are well rounded, you are always willing to learn and develop, you are also willing to adjust with things that work or do not work with my personality. You are flexible and willing to think of new ways to help fix issues and concerns. I genuinely feel heard when communicating feelings/concerns/wins/worries etc.
When did you realize working with me has helped you create your own solutions and accomplish your goals?
I have had so many of these moments! I tell my husband constantly how grateful I am to have your guidance in my life. But the moment I realized that I was winning due to your coaching and guidance is when I turned a corner from my unhealthy habits and started CHOOSING healthier habits. I suddenly could visualize myself becoming stronger (mentally more so than physically), I could visualize who I really was and what I really want to accomplish. My thoughts about myself and my journey with food/health are mostly positive, and when they aren’t I have the tools to redirect and get myself to a place of grace so that I can keep going with my goals.
What does life look like now that you are accomplishing your goals?
Life now has become hopeful. I can see the results of my goals in my mind, and everyday I actually WANT to put forth the effort of working hard, and fueling my body to achieve those goals.
What problems were you having in reaching your goals?
My problem I had before I started working with you was my lack of ability to follow through with what I said I was going to do. I needed someone to hold me accountable.
What made you reach out?
My goal from day one was to be consistent and lose weight and build a body I was confident in. My goal was also to learn how to properly eat and exercise to achieve my body goals.
My frustrations were that I felt like such a loser and a bum for not being able to lose weight on my own. And I was fed up with the life I was living and knew I needed help to make a change.
What is different about my coaching compared to what you've experienced before working together?
What is unique about your style of coaching is highlighting the importance of daily affirmations and other self love practices.
When did you realize working with me has helped you create your own solutions and accomplish your goals?
When you encouraged me to start using myfitness pal and taught me how to count my own macros, I realized that I was easier than I thought. And I knew that I could make my own healthy meal plans and wouldn’t need to rely on a nutrition coach forever.
What does life look like now that you are accomplishing your goals?
I have more confidence in myself now, knowing that I have the experience and knowledge to create my own meal plans, and workout routines on my own. I know that I can achieve anything I set my mind too. I also learned that discipline isn’t fun. But it’s worth it!
I am so grateful to work with Shannon! I like her holistic approach and I feel like my mind and body have felt so much better since working with her. She creates custom meal plans and workout plans which has been so helpful in reducing my stress in these areas while teaching me what to do. With Shannon, I have learned (and worked on a lot) the mind-muscle connection and learning proper form when exercising, which has improved my workouts. Shannon is so kind, caring, encouraging, a good listener and willing to teach and answer my questions. I would highly recommend Shannon as a trainer, and I have already referred her to a family member.
After a medical event in my life I was ready to make the changes I need to live a healthier lifestyle. Shannon has given me just the help, encouragement and support I need to make these changes! She started where I was and is helping me build new habits with workouts, nutrition, breath work and tips to help manage inflammation. I’m grateful for her knowledge and support and so glad my daughter recommended her to me!
